It is not a widely known fact that plastic packaging is very well recyclable. It is collected for recycling in most of the communities across North America. Most of the time though, the plastic bags are collected separately from the rest of the residential selective waste. The collection of the plastic bags are often run by supermarkets and retail stores.

Plastic film packaging is recycled to plastic resin, which is used as raw material for reproducing plastic packaging. Most recently, a growing volume of used plastic packaging is used for manufacturing plastic lumber and composit plastic.
